The Hearing Loss Association of America(www.hearingloss.org) is the largest organization in the United States dedicated to the needs of individuals who are hard of hearing. The Hearing Loss Association of Delaware is a private,non-profit, tax exempt, 501 (3) (c) organization for children and adults with hearing loss.
HLADE was orignially founded as Chapter of Self Help for Hard of Hearing People (SHHH) in Washington, DC in 1979. SHHH changed its name to the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) in 1987 and now has over 250 chapters and affiliate organizations in the US. Hearing loss doesn’t discriminate in terms of age, gender, race or any other demographic. Delaware HLADE members represent a wide range of individuals from a broad spectrum of backgrounds, races, cultures and lifestyles. We seek to reach out to diverse communities and form “Circle Chat” support groups representing any group or special interest in hearing loss.
